Wednesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday finally admitted the overcrowded accommodations for migrants detained at the US-Mexican border under President Biden are “inhumane,” “horrifying,” “unacceptable” and “barbaric” during a virtual town hall meeting.
AOC even called for “reparations” for some families.
“The fact that this keeps happening is a political failure of both parties,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
However in an earlier Instagram Live event, AOC blamed U.S. policy for the issue and not Biden. “This is not an invasion” she said. “US foreign policy has contributed to the destabilization of these regions … where the children are fleeing … We have decades of interventionist foreign policies that have contributed to this issue.”
She also claimed Biden is trying to do the right thing to solve the issue.
“I’ve been in contact with the Biden administration personally. What is different is they’re trying to figure out … how to find the resources to end his problem,” she said.
